Our Church Activities

In Solidarity With Our Priests As a fraternal organization of Catholic men, the Knights of Columbus has strong ties to the Church.

The Knights as an organization has the volunteer power, communications abilities and organization to help strengthen the Church while offering members and their families to grow in the faith. Through the sponsoring of Church-related activities the members of the Knights of Columbus continue to show that they are the strong right arm of the Church.

Bel Air Council supports the Parishes of St. Mark’s in Fallston and St. Margaret’s in Bel Air.  We also support the Perry Point Veterans Hospital.

A sampling of Bel Air Council’s charitable work in this area:

September – November Thanksgiving Food Collection: Chairman, Ross Liberati (St. Margaret’s) and Tom Krista (St. Mark’s).  We collect food at our weekly Friday BINGO and deliver it to both Parishes.  This program typically provides in excess of 500lbs of food to each Parish

October St. Mark’s Golf Tournament:  Our Council not only participated but we sponsored a hole last year for about $250.

December St. Margaret’s First Friday Lunch: The Council has been supporting this event for years.  On the first Friday in December we pay for, cook and serve lunch to about 250 seniors at no cost to the Church.

December St. Mark’s Winter Wonders: The Winter Wonders (bizarre type) event has grown at St. Mark’s.  It no longer fits in their McCall Center. Bel Air Council was present in the form of assisting at Winter Wonders and roaming the grounds providing buttons/pins that support our “Keep Christ in Christmas” campaign. Bel Air Council also assisted by having some signs printed to guide people around the event.

March St. Mark’s Shrove Tuesday Dinner: To start off Lent as a family, and to thank Fr. Jerry for his support to our Council.  On March 4th, 2014 our Council provided a complimentary Shrove Tuesday Dinner (Hot Cakes, Eggs, Sausage, and Bacon with beverages) to the Council and St. Mark’s Parish.  We feed approximately 300 people at no cost to the Church.

Support St. Mark’s Adoration, every Friday from 10AM – 6PM in the Chapel. Signup is in front of the Chapel. Fr. Jerry, needed assistance to ensure the 1-3pm time-slots were supported.  Bel Air Council stepped in to help and within a week had every time-slot covered by dedicated Parishioners who made this devotion a weekly commitment.

July Blood Drive at St. Mark’s: This event was so successful that the Red Cross ran out of supplies and consequently had to turn potential donors away.  We smashed our goal of 23 units based on historical data and collected 46 units reaching 200% of our goal.  This drive came at a very needful time as the American Red Cross had just put out a national plea for donors because of low blood supplies.
